The expert acupuncture practitioners in our Silver Lake office are here to heal your mind and body. Here are the types of acupuncture services we offer.

What is Acupuncture?

Acupuncture is a tried and true healing modality that goes back 2000 years. It is based on the idea that there are networks of meridian pathways that can be used to treat the entire body. Meridians pertain to many different regions of the body; which include our internal organs, our muscles and sinews, and central nervous system. These meridians, or channels as they are also known, allow the practitioner to influence the movement of Qi and blood in these delicate pathways. By stimulating specific points along these pathways we can harmonize and balance homeostasis, either by nourishing or draining these points. Acupuncture is an increasingly relied upon healing modality due to its versatility in treating a variety of symptoms that can sometimes allude more modern forms of treatment. With regular treatment you are stimulating your body's own healing mechanisms and strengthening your immune system.

Acupuncture can treat:

  • Pain

  • Headaches

  • Cough and cold symptoms

  • GI disorders

  • Sleep disorders

  • Menstrual issues

  • Fertility

  • Emotional issues

  • Symptoms due to chronic disease

What to expect

Acupuncture needles are thin filiform needles that are much smaller than what we may know from the doctor. In fact, it is possible to fit up to 10 acupuncture needles into a hypodermic needle. During your treatment, you may fall asleep, which is a good thing, as it allows for the body to begin it's healing process. After your initial treatment you can expect to feel relaxed and may notice your symptoms subtly change in 24 to 48 hours.

What is Facial Acupuncture

Facial Acupuncture is the use of tiny needles to restore microcirculation to the face. By increasing blood flow in this area, the skin gets the nourishment it needs, and replenishes the fine collagen strands that support the dermis from damage that can be caused by sun, stress, and dehydration. With the increased blood flow, the skin is also able to detox any impurities that can cause blemishes and discoloration. Using a Gua Sha tool, the face is gently massaged and smoothed to make your skin glow. A facial acupuncture treatment also includes body points to help support hydration, relieve the stress that can cause us to crinkle our foreheads, and most importantly to restore Qi, so that we may find energy coming from within rather than in that 2nd cup of coffee. Facial acupuncture can have lasting effects when used in a treatment protocol of 10 bi-weekly treatments. Not only will you look better, but you will feel better inside and out.
